Hamann SLR Volcano officially unveiled

Article by Christian A., on August 29, 2010

After we've been teased with a video, the miracle happened, the Hamann Volcano based on the Mercedes SLR was finally revealed! Designed for an exclusive clientele (of course, not anybody can afford a Mercedes-Benz SLR), the new vehicle features a new body kit made of extremely light full carbon which consists in a front lip spoiler, a re-designed bonnet, new side skirt attachments, a new rear spoiler with integrated air diffuser, as well as a big rear wing especially designed to improve the stability of the vehicle.

The kit is completed by the 21 inch Edition Race alloy wheels measuring 255/30ZR21 at the front and 345/25ZR21 at the back.

Under the hood we can find the same 5.4-liter V8 engine produced by the German manufacturer but this time boosted from 626 hp and 780 Nm of torque to an impressive 700 hp (515 kW) and 830 Nm of torque at 3,300 rpm.

Due to this amount of power, the control unit needed to be reprogrammed, a specially developed high performance exhaust manifolds and an amended belt pulley combination for the serial compressors. Also a second water pump was added in order to increase the performance of the engine as well as a new sport exhaust system.

As you expected the performances of the car are impressive: the sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) is made in just 3.6 seconds while the maximum speed is limited electronically to 348 km/h or 216 mph, which makes it with 11 km/h (6.8 mph) faster that the Mercedes SLR 722.

At the interior we can find new aluminium pedals and foot rests, new door sill protectors featuring the Hamann logos, exclusive floor mats and carbon-fiber accessories. Of course the interior can be customized in any way the customer wants! He pays he gets everything he wants! No words about the price yet!
