Hennessey unveils the Cadillac CTS-V VR1200

The latest creation from Houston’s Hennessey Performance Engineering that it based on the Cadillac CTS-V boasts a whopping output of 1066 hp and 964 lb-ft. Hennessey designed the vehicle to offer this much power, which is actually double what the stock CTS-V can deliver. To attain this amazing horsepower, it required more than some pulley change or a fast chip-tune.

VR1200 dropped the factory-issue CTS-V twin-screw supercharger and instead, it has 427 cubic inches (7.0 liters) and twin turbochargers.

A three-minute video was released by the company. It included a slide show of the various angles taken of the VR1200 as well as a short dyno footage. The soundtrack used was fittingly dark and menacing.

Hennessey plans to assemble just 12 of the VR1200 special-edition CTS-V coupes. However, it offers majority of the performance upgrades a la carte for any CTS-V, or most probably a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 too.

This 1200-hp Camaro certainly has enough power to humiliate the 2013 Shelby’s 662 hp. But then, Shelby American may just come up with something at the last minute.

New Cadillac CTS-V is afforded with advanced braking and tire systems, courtesy of renowned brake builder Brembo and tire-maker Michelin.

Each wheel of the new CTS-V is fitted with Brembo brakes that include six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers. Brembo’s braking system for the CTS-V also features slotted and vented brake rotors designed to create strong initial braking force. These brake rotors are made from a "dual-cast" technology, which allows it to be made of cast iron and aluminum. As a result, these rotors aren’t only light and heat-resistant, they are also able to offer super braking performance. CTS-V’s brake rotors also include an electric parking brake.

Meanwhile, Michelin and Cadillac collaborated to create a set of tires specially tuned for the new CTS-V. The product is the Pilot Sport PS2 summer tire for the CTS-V that perfectly wraps the car’s 19-inch alloy wheels. The Pilot Sport PS2 summer tires allow for high grip levels in track conditions and superior performance on the road.

Customers could take delight in the fact that the Recaro performance driving seats are offered as options in the new Cadillac CTS-V. Recaro’s performance driving seats – a 14-way adjustable unit -- include pneumatic bolster controls on the seat cushions and on the backrests. Likewise, a new interior color –Saffron – is now available for the new CTS-V. When availed, this color scheme comes with a contrasting color accent on the seat inserts and stitching.
