Luethen Motorsport’s tuning program for Mercedes-AMG GT makes it race-ready

Since its release in 2014, the Mercedes-AMG GT has been one of the favorite cars of tuners around the world, especially those from Germany. While Mercedes has been updating the AMG-GT with variants like the GT R and the GT S, it has not stopped tuners to create their own versions of this elegantly powerful performer.

Now, Luethen Motorsport of Hamburg, Germany has just revealed its own interpretation of a tuned Mercedes-AMG GT, and this car is ready to race. Yes, the Luethen Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT is an elegant premium coupe that is not just powerful, but is also ready take on the track, thanks to a plethora of upgrades made on this already dynamic car.

One of the main areas of upgrades made by Luethen Motorsport to the Mercedes-AMG GT is the addition of a new engine control unit or ECU. Without this upgrade, the Mercedes-AMG GT’s 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine only delivers 462 hp of max output and 600 Nm (440 lb-ft.) of peak torque and helps achieve a top speed of 189 mph.

But with Luethen Motorsport’s ECU upgrade, the V8 engine now provides up to 612 hp of output and up to 780 Nm (575 lb-ft.) of torque, helping the AMG GT reach a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h). This means that Luethen Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT is even more powerful than the up and coming performance-laden 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R, which has an engine that can develop 577 hp of max output and 700 Nm (520 lb-ft.).

To further improve the downforce and increase the cooling new Luethen Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT, it was fitted with a complete aerodynamic styling kit made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic. This aerodynamic styling kit includes a new front spoiler lip with an integrated splitter as well as boundary layer winglets and intake brows. The aerodynamic styling kit likewise covers a new rear adjustable spoiler wing placed above an underbody spoiler as well as new side skirts. These CRFP aero components could be finished in a color picked by the customer.

To realize a good balance between performance and handling, Luethen Motorsport installed its own sport springs on the Mercedes-AMG GT, instead of opting for motorsport suspension. These springs also allowed Luethen Motorsport to lower the ride height of Mercedes-AMG GT.

Of course, the Luethen Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT is provided with new bespoke forged wheels in the guise of Luethen Motorsport Series-1 wheels with sizes 10.0 x 20 on the front and 11.0 x 21 at the rear. Wheels in size 12.0 x 21 wheels are also optionally available. These forged wheels – which could be finished in standard colors or in any shade preferred by customers – are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in sizes 265/30 ZR20 (front) and 305/25 ZR21 (rear).

Luethen Motorsport’s Mercedes-AMG GT is available as a full upgrade package or as individual accessories.
