Although the tuning specialist MKB is not as famous as other German tuners, it has nevertheless come up with some of the most elegant and potent upgrades in the field, particularly where Mercedes-Benz cars are concerned.
The tuner's most current creation is patterned after the twin-turbocharged CL65 AMG Coupe although a lot of the styling and performance revision can also be utilized in any model in the CL-Class such as the basic CL500/550 model.
The upgrade package is dubbed the MKB 65/12 BT and comes with a number of subtle styling revisions together with engine, wheel and tire enhancements. With MKB modifications the CL65 powerplant power yield was bumped from 517hp (385kW) in the standard model to 750hp (560kW). Top torque was also raised to 922lb-ft (1,250Nm).
To accommodate the boost in power output, the car has been given a high-performing rear axle that comes with a differential lock and a revised transmission control module.
Power is channeled to the ground through a set of hand-built 20 inch MKB Alpha III wheels clothes with 255mm tires at the front and 295mm tires at the back. The suspension, which has been reinforced and given more rigid springs and dampers, has been lowered by 25mm. These upgrades enable the car to sprint from standstill to 100km/h in just 4.1 seconds and reach a ceiling speed of 350km/h.
The interior of the CL65 comes with Alcantara and carbon fiber trim as options. And to harmonize the performance upgrades, MKB has provided the CL65 with a number of exterior elements like new side skirts, modified bumpers and grill and a built-in rear air diffuser.
