Street Legal Performance (SLP) will be resurrecting the famous Firebird Firehawk in the supercharged version of the Pontiac G8 GT. Pontiac die hards are outraged by the employment of the name Firehawk and further violent reactions can be expected by way of the sedan's styling and sticker price.
In its attempt to be retro, the Firehawk will come with a flat-black hood complete with an SLP air spoiler at the back that is painted with the same finish. The Firehawk G8 GT comes with 19-inch 5-spoke wheels in gun metal paint finish with G8 GT sports tire pack.
Power under the hood is a 6.0-liter V8 with a supercharger like that on the ZR-1 Corvette. Cold air intake and stainless steel exhaust make for improved breathing.
The enhancements cause the Firehawk 500 hp an acceleration rate of 0-60mph in just 4.3 seconds, finish the quarter mile in 12.6 seconds with a speed of 115mph.
Included in the Firehawk package are badges, floor mats and headrests with embroideries. The cost of the package is $18,995 over the $33,000 basic price of the 2009 G8 GT that comes with the sports pack.
An addition lf $4,995 gives the buyer a competition quality brake pack. The Firehawk G8 GT variant will begin production this coming April 1 and pre-orders can be made via Pontiac dealerships all over the nation or through SLP.
