STaSIS announces Signature Audi S4 packages

Article by Christian A., on February 27, 2011

North American VAG performance house STaSIS Engineering launches the Signature series of Audi enhancement packages in the United Kingdom with the Signature Series S4. STaSIS’ combination of cohesive powertrain, dynamic suspension and braking upgrades lifts the supercharged Audi S4 to the top of its performance class.

STaSIS engineers have developed the 2010 onwards Audi S4’s supercharged V6, 3.0-liter TFSI engine, boosting performance from a measured standard 333 bhp / 344 lb. ft of torque to a stimulating 410 bhp / 370 lb. ft. The STaSIS Signature S4 is now available from APS of Brackley in two versions.

The Touring Edition combines the significant power and torque increase with aggressive suspension and bespoke wheels to Audi's signature sports saloon to deliver more poise and grace. The Challenge Edition refines the Touring package with more racing technology for the road.

All that the STaSIS’ engineers have learned at the racetrack has been integrated into an S4 upgrade package that’s also been specified to be civilized for town driving. From concept to production, each new STaSIS component is meticulously tested to ensure maximum performance and factory levels of reliability.

The STaSIS Signature S4 packages are available with prices starting at GBP12,500 including 20 percent VAT and installation. Customers can also buy individual Audi S4 STaSIS Signature series components from APS of Brackley on a piecemeal basis. Prices are available upon request.

These packages feature a motorsport-derived STaSIS braking system that employs lightweight, two-piece 370-mm rotors and calipers. The rotors – which could also be availed in optional 390 mm – have large air gaps, a custom iron alloy and directional aerofoils -- all helping to remove heat generated during braking as fast as possible. These rotors -- bolted to an aluminum hat through a floating pin design – could endure a series of stops without succumbing to overheating or warping.

In lieu of the factory two-piece sliding calipers are six-piston monobloc aluminum calipers, which are around half as light. The pistons feature high-resilience seals for quick activation and retraction, allowing for a more linear response every time the driver presses the pedal.

The race-derived STaSIS braking system also features high-performance brake pads and stainless steel lines. Interestingly, any increase in the brake temperature would not affect the initial bite delivered when the brake pedal is stepped on – cutting off any worries of a driver when turning. Since each front wheel is now nearly 13 pounds lighter, it is now easier to steer the vehicle without further burdening the suspension.

Meanwhile, the suspension system for the Signature Series S4 and S5 Cabriolet features lightweight motorsports-derived dampers as well as high rate springs with an uprated anti-roll bar kit. These dampers come with STaSIS double-digressive valving that allows racecar-like controls with superb ride comfort. With the latest Signature Series, STaSIS is able to prove that it is able to successfully blend aggressive stance, enhanced ride comfort and improved handling.

Press Release

Stasis S4 and S5

STaSIS will debut its new 410-hp Signature Series S5 cabriolet at the 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show on November 2 through 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This sport convertible will be showcased alongside the class-leading STaSIS Signature Series S4, with 410 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque.

Both vehicles feature race-derived brake, suspension, and driveline products that deliver nearly 25 percent more power and an extra 26 lb-ft of torque over the factory models, balancing significant performance gains with comfort and reliability. Equipped with a race-tuned suspension, 390-mm, 2-piece brake rotors, lightweight forged 20" wheels, and an aggressive exhaust, these vehicles have a power presence that remains nimble and responsive.

The 4-door, 4-wheel-drive, 410-hp Signature Series S4 runs with world-class sports sedans such as the BMW M3, Cadillac CTS-V and Lexus IS F in both speed and handling, all at a reasonable price tag. The Signature Series S5 Cabriolet boasts a convertible top and the performance of the STaSIS S4, delivering a truly exhilarating driving experience.

STaSIS takes a holistic design approach by engineering all systems to perform together harmoniously, providing driving enthusiasts racecar-inspired performance without compromising everyday driving comfort. This balance is built into every car we design, from the 710-hp R8 V10 Spyder to the STaSIS version of the popular Audi A4, to the STaSIS TT, S5, S4, A6, A5, Q5 and A3 models. Available from over 50 dealerships nationwide, all STaSIS Signature Series products are covered by a 4-year/50,000-mile warranty that runs concurrently with the factory warranty.

STaSIS Engine and Exhaust Modifications

STaSIS boosts the Audi 3.0-L supercharged engine from 333 hp and 344 lb-ft of torque to 410 hp and 370 lb-ft of torque by tuning the engine software and replacing the factory exhaust with a STaSIS free-flow stainless exhaust.

STaSIS engineered a lightweight, free-flowing, T304 stainless steel exhaust system that works in harmony with the engine tuning software. The exhaust uses the first true cross flow pulse scavenging technology applie to the 3.0 supercharged engine and independently provides an additional 8 hp. The mufflers incorporate reflective and passive technologies to optimize sound and minimize back pressure. Combined with tunable resonators, the sound is noticeably deeper and more aggressive but does not drone within the cabin.

Signature Series S4 and S5 Cabriolets are equipped with either 20" lightweight cast wheels or 20" ultra-lightweight forged wheels. Both wheel styles are DOT and JWL certified and help to improve handling, acceleration and stopping.

Wheels are equipped with Yokohama S-Drive high performance tires or Yokohama Advan Sport Extreme Performance tires. Combined with the race-inspired suspension and lighter weight brakes, the Signature Series S4 and S5 are both capable of 1.0 G cornering acceleration

The STaSIS braking system uses lightweight, 2-piece 370-mm (390-mm optional) rotors and calipers that are direct descendents from the highest levels of motorsport. The rotors have large air gaps, directional aerofoils and a custom iron alloy that help to quickly extract heat generated when stopping. Bolted to an aluminum hat via a floating pin design, these rotors allow for stop after stop without overheating or warping due to heat stress.

The factory two-piece sliding calipers are replaced by 6-piston monobloc aluminum calipers that are 50% lighter. The pistons use high-resilience seals for quick piston activation and retraction, providing the driver with a firm pedal feel that is linear in action across all temperature ranges.

The system is completed with high-performance brake pads and stainless steel lines. Stepping on the brake pedal delivers an aggressive initial bite that will not change as brake temperature increases. This gives the driver the confidence to dive into every turn without worry.

Reducing the weight at each front wheel by nearly 13 pounds enables quicker steering wheel inputs and requires less work for the suspension, which in turn improves handling.

The Signature Series S4 and S5 Cabriolet combine lightweight dampers and high rate springs with an uprated anti-roll bar kit. The motorsports-derived dampers utilize STaSIS double-digressive valving to produce racecar control with ride comfort. Our success in balancing the conflicting goals of a more aggressive stance, improved handling and ride comfort is part of every Signature Series car we produce.

STaSIS Warranty

STaSIS products purchased and installed by a certified STaSIS dealer are covered by a 4-year/50,000-mile warranty that runs concurrently with the standard factory warranty. The STaSIS warranty is the only factory-level warranty in the industry.
