Superchips upgrades the Ford Kuga 2.0 TDCi

Article by Christian A., on January 9, 2011

Superchips Ltd. now offers a high performance ECU remap that delivers a more exciting, efficient driving experience for certain Ford cars featuring the latest version of the 163 PS 2.0 TDCi turbo diesel engine. Ford’s Galaxy, Kuga, Mondeo and the Focus S-Max are included in this list.

Superchips technicians analyzed the latest version of the Ford 1995cc, 16-valve TDCi engine and were able to determine performance enhancement possibilities within the models’ Delphi DCM3.5 ECU, which can be accessed to allow a fast and uncomplicated installation.

The Galaxy, Kuga, Mondeo and Focus S-Max can have a sharper, more stimulating drive as after the upgrade, the Superchips ECU remap for the Ford 2.0 TDCi engined models will boost the power by up to 22 bhp at 3301 rpm.

In addition, the ECU remap transforms the 2.0 TDCi engine’s torque output, raising the figure by 89 Nm (65 lb.ft,) with gains throughout the rev range, highlighting the value that Superchips places on drivability.

When considering the increasing fuel prices, drivers will be reassured that because of the Superchips optimization of the Ford 2.0 TDCi’s ECU settings, extra efficiencies are achieved and in most cases, fuel consumption is improved due to the extra low rev torque available to the driver.

To have the Superchips ECU remap installed for the 2.0 TDCi versions of the Galaxy, Kuga, Mondeo and Focus S-Max models, customers may visit any of the 80 Superchips performance centers.
