Vorsteiner Bmw X6M redefines the meaning of tuning

Article by Christian A., on September 14, 2010

The tuning specialists at Vorsteiner have recently revealed full details of its aerodynamic package for the BMW X6M. This kit is also the tuner’s first SUV conversion.

A preview was shown in March with the VRS Aero Package but now, we learned from the tuner that the X6M aero components are crafted using lightweight composite technology and a dry carbon vacuum process.

The parts are composed of resin pre-impregnated, vacuum-formed carbon fiber autoclave system which reportedly means they are up to 30% stronger than the wet-lay products.

A new front add-on spoiler made of carbon fiber composite (CFRP) is added to the front end of the X6M. The front spoiler adds downforce to the front axle at high speeds while directing more air into the front radiators and air duct openings.

In mid-September, an all-new power dome sculpted vented carbon composite hood will start to be offered to complement the front spoiler and to extract heat from the twin turbo V8 engine bay.

The rear end of the X6M features a new sporty carbon fiber diffuser that replaces the factory plastic unit. The rear diffuser will have 3 modular aero fins that are fitted to the main body of the diffuser aside from the 2 vented slits to help cool the exhaust system.

The rear aerodynamic package also includes a carbon add-on rear deck lid spoiler to balance the additional downforce of the new front end. This package also offers Vorsteiner’s one-piece forged V-102 wheels in 23 inches in a Satin Brushed Aluminum finish shoed with Michelin tires.
