Tuning company Wimmer is offering a Level 3 engine tuning kit for Mercedes’ luxury sports saloon, the C63 AMG. It’s actually an unlikely choice as the stock vehicle’s power is already high.
Wimmer also gave this vehicle several custom touches to the suspension and exterior appearance. Dubbed the Wimmer Mercedes C63 AMG Performance, it delivers 580 hp and 690 Nm of torque.
The boost in power is due to the installation of a new air filter, exhaust and ECU remapping. The top speed is unchanged from the stock vehicle’s electronically limited 305 km/h (190 mph). Wimmer has given this vehicle a high flow air filter from K&M as well as a new optimized air induction system at their facility in Solingen, Germany.
In addition, the Wimmer Mercedes C63 AMG Performance boasts of an RS-Sport exhaust system that includes a manifold with down pipe, a sports catalyst and optimized cat-back – all of which are made of stainless steel. Except for some stickers, the vehicle’s exterior appears practically the same as the stock C63 AMG. What stands out though is the set of new double spoke design alloys covered in Dunlop Sport Maxx GT tires.
The Wimmer performance kit also offers a KW-Club Sport Suspension package. The kit has a price tag of EUR9,900 ($13,800), including installation fee. The factory C63 features a revised front bumper, based on the CLK 63 AMG Black Series.
The C63 was initially launched in 2007. It is powered by a 6.3-liter engine that develops 450 hp (340 kW), mated to a 7G-Tronic SpeedShift gearbox. So far, the DR520 2011 limited-edition model is the most powerful factory version of the C-Klasse. It has an output of 520 hp (390 kW) and 480 ft.lb (650 Nm) of torque.
